Description

It was two days of festival fun at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas this year! A sold-out audience gathered to watch A-list performers including The Weeknd, P!NK and Miley Cyrus to name a few. Team ATOMIC returned, providing design and set construction services, bringing a brand-new look to the 2017 festival stage.

Inspired by a tight load-in window, designers Tom McPhillips and Charlie Cook created a stage design that would not only look amazing, but would also load-in quick. Incorporating a radio wave look around the iHeartRadio branding, McPhillips and Cook created a center screen with curved scenic elements to make the set feel like it was expanding in waves out to the audience. A new turntable wall made an appearance on stage, built with video product backlighting a frosted material framed with an aluminum structure. Not only did this look great, but it was super easy to work with backstage as it was built with miles of cable management in mind, giving plenty of room to walk behind the wall.

New schematics were given to the VIP area, fitting more people and utilizing the railings as video tile supports bringing the design around and into the audience.

Overall the design for the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Festival raised the bar yet again and wouldn’t be possible without our awesome clients and partners including DPS, iHeart Media, All Access, VER, C2W Rigging, Pyrotek and our good friend Tom Kenny and his A-class team of programmers!
