Nike Zoom City Bank
Description
The 2015 All-Star Weekend in New York City buzzed with basketball fans and sneaker-heads alike. Nike joined in on the basketball celebration by launching the “The City of Zoom” campaign, featuring the SNKRS Station pop-up retail shop, the Zoom City Arena activation and the exclusive, invite-only experience, Nike Zoom City Bank. ATOMIC utilized every capability including production services, design, set construction, lighting and rental to realize Nike’s vision and produce The Bank.
The two Zoom City Bank events, located inside the stunning Weylin B. Seymour venue (a restored historic bank) in Brooklyn, were created for the press in the afternoon and high-school age VIPs in the evening. The events payed homage to basketball, New York City and the history of Nike kicks. Guests entered on a runaway with a photo-op (immediately sharable on social media). The event space featured interactive basketball games, a first look at the Iridescent AF1, a 3D printing station of mini AF1 sneakers and the Nike Air Vault which included a collection of Nike Airs from 1982-2015.
ATOMIC worked with great partners like PEDG, Theatrical Resources, Control Freak Systems, and Makerbot, to transform the building into the event area (with a turn-over between events) on the main floor and the Vault on the ground level. The afternoon media event included a panel discussion featuring Scottie Pippen, Odell Beckham Jr., Nike Designer Leo Chang and celebrity Eddie Huang. For the evening event, a dance floor appeared for an under 21 night-club like event featuring NYC DJs and nationally-known rappers, young sneaker-heads and lots of dancing. Nike’s Zoom City Bank event was considered a successful part of the overall #ZoomCity campaign, generating social media buzz and press coverage.
