Description

The Grammy Salute to Music Legends event honored its class of 2018 Special Merit Awards recipients in a night to remember. With lifetime achievement honorees including Tina Turner, Queen and Neil Diamond among many others, honorees took to the stage with impactful performances for guests as well as viewers tuned into the PBS “Great Performances” series.

Team ATOMIC brought together multiple internal capabilities to execute an aesthetically pleasing design and build. Taking place in the beautiful Dolby Theatre, designer Tom McPhillips embraced the Art Deco elements of the venue in his designs. To do this, McPhillips utilized existing rental solutions’ panels Razor and Comb to mimic the theatre’s design.  Custom frames were built to hang rental product in 5′ increments, rigged to appear as floating diamonds above the stage. SuperLever Holograms hung with ease as the backdrop of the set, with ground supported SuperShapes setting the stage. Adding a unique look to the SuperShapes, custom soft goods were built to stretch onto the framework, creating a beautiful solid vs. patterned look in the layout. Beautifully lit custom columns added height to the design, with the same material making an appearance on the screen surround. Custom fencing was incorporated into the band stage design, covering necessary cabling in a unique way. Finally, custom stairs added perspective to the stage along with applied graphics on the main stage.

Overall it was a blast working with the team on this phenomenal project and wouldn’t have been possible without our awesome client and parters!
