ATOMIC

The GRAMMY Salute to Music Legends is a concert dedicated to the recipients of the Academy’s Special Merit Awards with special performances by the honorees. Held at the Beacon Theatre in New York with a later air date on PBS, this was the 2nd annual stand-alone Special Merit Awards event.

Taking their base point from the iconic Art Deco vibe that is inherently Grammy, the ATOMIC Design team succeeded in producing a Deco-influenced design, but one that still complemented the stunning Belle Epoque architecture of the Beacon Theatre. Custom gold scenic pieces hung above the stage, with coordinating standing scenic pieces onstage. The design team utilized ATOMIC rental products’ Hologram and Chiclet to continue the Art Deco theme. Working in a theatre with little to no wing space created a challenge for the team, but they overcame that challenge by building scenic pieces with wheels so that the set changes for the bands and pianos could be made with ease.
