Description

In the midst of the 2015 All-Star Weekend, Nike transformed parts of New York City into “The City of Zoom.” Celebrating basketball and engaging fans and sneakerheads alike, the Zoom City product launches and activations were a huge success. Located at Duarte Square in Manhattan, the Zoom City Arena was an interactive experience built from the ground up in a temporary outdoor structure and open to the general public to peruse. Consumers could view vintage Nike’s, play interactive games and register to trial new products on the Basketball court where tournaments and interactive training programs took place. The floor was 100% LED Video Tiles and created an incredible, electric atmosphere.

ATOMIC Scenic and Lighting worked in conjunction with Nike and Production Glue to create (and light) the custom scenic elements inside the Nike Zoom City Arena. The most challenging aspect of this project was the outdoor/tent build in extremely cold conditions, in February, in New York City. Sometimes battling the elements is the biggest hurdle in a scenic project. Our team braved the elements and delivered a great experience for Nike fans.

We want to thank our client Nike, Production Glue, Lighting Designer Seth Bernstein and Designers Alex Lowe (Nike Brand Design) and Sean Pearson (RUFproject).
