Description

The infamous Wild ‘N Out is back as part of MTV’s “Throwdown Thursdays” comedy block, with its season nine premier breaking viewership records left and right. Working on the set for Wild ‘N Out since 2013, Team ATOMIC was tasked with building a high-end styled theatre set inside of the Playstation Theatre.

Built in an impressive 12 days with 12 trucks worth of scenery, the ATOMIC Set Construction Team nailed the build. With miles of molding and metallic gold painted trim, striking theatre columns and soft goods, Designer Tom Lenz’s vision came to life. The mainstage portion of the set featured a proscenium arch with CNC cut custom flats and columns with scenic painted texture. Ropes, chains and scaffolding dressed the stage to finish the “urban meets fancy theatre” look. Custom graphics were installed on the stage floor with prominent Wild ‘N Out branding, and a custom DJ booth was built with a marbled effect and more Wild ‘N Out branding.

In all, the stunning set wouldn’t have been possible without our client and partners: Viacom, Amy Starr (Line Producer), and Tom Lenz (Designer).
