The annual GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor achievements for those in the media and arts, with the GLAAD Media Award being given to one in the media whom outstandingly represents the LGBT community. This nonprofit organization has looked to ATOMIC’s Rental Solutions in the past for a cost effective approach to a stunning set, and our team was excited to enhance the designs this year by utilizing our in house design services team.

Using the iconic Chiclet SuperLever Panels, Designer Taylor Jurell developed a custom shroud system that allowed the LED tiles to get right up next to the Chiclet panels, whereas they were set back in the past. Taking the look another step forward, Jurell incorporated arches across the tops. Also, adding individually channeled LED allowed the team to add a soft glow on the backdrop upstage, as well as create a “ballyhoo” moment by activating the downstage faces of LED for when the talent would walk on. This design was utilized at the 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles as well as the New York event. The design was then translated into a smaller scale for the GLAAD Gala in San Francisco.
