World Golf Hall of Fame

Description

Five new members were inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame for their outstanding performance, and Team ATOMIC was there from the start designing and building the scenic elements for the show. The induction ceremony event was held at Cipriani Wall Street, a vast, ornate, 19th century marble space. Designer Mike Rhoads worked with the client from the beginning to design an elegant setting for the space that would not appear too stuffy in the venue. They wanted the set to feel somewhat like a country club setting, but yet also modern. To pull off the anticipated look, Rhoads landed on a rather traditional architecture of light cherry wood columns and panels with crown molding as screen surrounds, but with inset accents of brushed metal and contemporary LED lighting fixtures that gave the look a modern edge. Additionally, vertical LED fixtures on the set were a subtle nod to the look of the World Golf Hall of Fame’s own venue in Florida.

Once Rhoads nailed down the design, the ATOMIC Set Construction team got to work creating detailed drawings to pass off to the shop floor. Once built, an intricate faux woodgrain treatment was given to the scenic elements to add that extra pizzazz to the set.

Special thanks to our client and partners: IMG, David Hetzron, Gary Critchlow, Tony Salerno and shoutout to Lighting Designer Louis Malagrino for making the whole space and set look stunning.
