The 51st Academy of Country Music Awards was a night for the books with Chris Stapleton bringing home six awards, Dolly Parton honored and lots of honky-tonk performances! Before the festivities began, each celebrity walked along the red carpet with ATOMIC’s longest-ever SuperWall serving as the Step and Repeat! Team ATOMIC had the pleasure of working with the ACM team from the start to design and build the custom step and repeat for the 2016 ACM Awards.

Designer Jeremy Thom conceptualized the step and repeat utilizing Chiclet and Propane SuperLever panels with custom vinyl graphics along the entire SuperWall. The step and repeat area also included a custom marquee sign and custom soft goods provided by ATOMIC’s Set Construction team. With the size and outdoor use of the SuperWall, the design was carefully engineered and tested to accommodate these parameters. The design and rental teams truly pushed the limits of the rental product with the outdoor application; something as simple as a flat surface to build on doesn’t exist in outdoor spaces. The step and repeat SuperWall was 200 feet long by 12 feet high and included 1,100+ panels and 1,200+ SuperLever connectors (Not to mention the two indoor step and repeats that used 130 more custom vinyl covered Chiclet panels).

ATOMIC’s Production Services team stepped in to ensure a smooth ride along the way. As just one component of a big awards show, the step and repeat logistics and details were handled by our producers, from labor to equipment to shipping. The parking lot outside of the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas was transformed into a star-worthy red carpet area by our amazing client, ACM, our all-star team and our great partners BEAME (lighting) and Freeman (labor).
