Summer Sonic Festival 2017

Description

It’s been nine years of festival fun in Tokyo, as Team ATOMIC was put to the test again creating dramatic designs to enhance Makuhari Messe as the Summer Sonic Festival took over. Working with our friends over at CreativeMan Tokyo, ATOMIC designers Tom McPhillips and Charlie Cook got to work on the designs, incorporating existing Rental Solutions’ products along with repurposed scenery and creating brand new elements to WOW! attendees.

Back in the spotlight were repurposed pieces of scenery, including the geodesic headphones which made their debut at Summer Sonic 2016.  The “mountains” were back as well, making a bold impression with existing Rental Solutions’ Products Pyramid and Xscape. Sculpted soft goods and fabric accents filled the vast empty spaces of the convention hall to add that extra WOW! factor, including a stunning chandelier display using Honeycomb panels, which created a distinct look from every angle. Tube SuperWall also made an appearance at the entrance with custom vinyl branding.

Brand-spankin-new elements this year included an impressive 86′ dragon which was rigged from the ceiling and included stunning fire-breathing effects, colorful cosmic arches that created a playful vibe as attendees walked the path to the entrance, and custom printed ribbon soft goods that glowed as they hung throughout the Sonic Stage zone.

Overall, the 2017 Summer Sonic Festival was another fun show for the books, utilizing multiple capabilities throughout ATOMIC. Special thanks to our always-awesome client CreativeMan Tokyo!
