Mamma Mia
Description
Mamma Mia, the jukebox musical that brings ABBA’s music to life. The 5th Avenue Theatre transformed it’s stage into the fictional Greek island of Kalokairi with Erik Holden’s technical direction, Jason Sherwood’s set design and ATOMIC’s soft goods and scenic artists help. The regional theatre based in Seattle, Washington performed a short run of Mamma Mia in front of the set ATOMIC built including a Greek inspired hanging wall façade with shutters and flowers, made out of carved foam. The team also built a movable dock where many of the iconic moments took place. Team ATOMIC went back to it’s theatrical roots and relied heavily on the scenic artists to create a stunning set with intricate finishes. The entire stage was backed by a textured, scenic painted curved cyclorama (take a look at our team building the backdrop).
Special thanks to our client and partners 5th Avenue Theatre, Technical Director Eric Holden and Set Designer Jason Sherwood. We love the opportunity to show off our scenic artists’ skills and get back to our theatrical roots.
