Position Objective

Program CNC parts with an eye toward the big picture of the project.

Core Responsibilities

1. Program CNC files for routing of parts and scenic pieces according to the drawing.
2. Maintain knowledge of all necessary software, tools and accessories.
3. Serve as a resource on projects relating to CNC programming capabilities; adjusting program errors and advising on the proper tools for the job.
4. Assist with upkeep of the machine.
5. Coordinate with Lead to ensure proper inventory of tools and accessories for timely completion of projects.
6. Provide skilled contributions in any ATOMIC Profit Center and position as needed.
7. Contribute to the development of a safety culture.

Organizational Relationships

• The CNC Programmer reports to the CNC Lead and works closely with Tech Design (Project Management, Design and R&D) and Shop Floor Leads.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Enroute CNC and CAD/CAM software experience.
• Experience programming in 2D, 2.5D and 3D design.
• Ability to read drawings and ground plans.
• Working knowledge of scenic construction and rigging as well as theatre terms and procedures.
• Solid knowledge of shop tools, hardware and supplies.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong prioritization skills.
• Critical thinking skills.
• Understand and be able to use scale.

Credentials & Experience

• 5+ years of CNC programming experience, preferably in the scenic industry.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Those necessary for general warehouse work.

Work Environment

Combination of typical office environment and manufacturing environment for the majority of the time with occasional offsite work at industry-based venues.
